Jesus is the Answer

The things I have read and heard over the past few weeks has gotten me thinking. We've had a drunk driver run over a group of children, we've had young adults performing a late term abortion at home, murders or shootings are on the news almost every night. Then I see the other side. Protests for gun control. Protests to abolish abortion. And the list goes on and on. There is something everyone is missing. We can make drugs illegal and we will still have those that do drugs. We can make drunk driving illegal and we will still have drunk drivers. We can ban abortion and we will still have abortions being performed. We as christians are focusing on the wrong thing. If we want all of this evil stopped, we need to quit focussing so much on the sin, and start focusing on the sinner. We spend hours protesting. We go to the scheduled events to stand for whatever it is we are passionate about. But how many of us christians go to our church visitation? How many are out witnessing to our neighbors, and the guy standing in line behind us, or the cashier at our favorite store, or even our lost family members. If we are truly passionate about these things, we need to start focusing on the heart of man. We can make all the laws in the world, however, if the heart of man does not turn to God, our country will not change. The drunk driver NEEDS JESUS. The girl who does not know how she'd make it with a baby, and decides to choose murder, NEEDS JESUS! The mass shooter NEEDS JESUS! Gang members and addicts NEED JESUS! I read the book of Jonah to my little Sunday school class this morning. We see in Jonah chapter 1 vs 1-2 the LORD told Jonah to "GO". Sound familiar? Just in case we have forgotten, Mark 16 tells us, "...Go ye...". And just like us, Jonah did not take this command seriously. He went his own way. Why was the LORD sending Jonah to Nineveh? Verse 2 says it is because of their wickedness. What was Jonah supposed to do when he got there? It was not to make laws or protest. Chapter 3 verse 2 lets us know he was to GO PREACH! I'm not saying we should not stand for what we believe in. I'm just reminding us that Jesus is the answer, God gave the laws thousands of years ago. Don't lie, don't steal, don't kill. If folks are okay with breaking His law, they are for sure okay with breaking our state laws. The first family in the Bible had murder, killing babies even up to 2 years old is all through the Bible. The answer way back then was Jesus, and the answer today is still Jesus. Until us christians get serious about witnessing our world is not going to get better, no matter how many laws are created. People need the Lord! God gave Jonah the command to "go", and the men on the ship found him asleep. Their question to him when they found him asleep in the bottom of their boat was, "What meanest thou, O sleeper?" God gave us the command to "GO", why are we sleeping?

... by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil. Proverbs 16:6

The problem is not guns, drugs, abortion, etc. The real problem is we do not fear the Lord.

Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34

Where do we get our Righteousness? JESUS!

People need the LORD!
